These diets have die-hard believers; people that will swear out an official statement that their diet works and even that they know the one true way to success.

High fat diets and low fat diets both work. Athletes win medals eating foods that many popular diets say will make you gain fat and sap your energy. There are countless examples of fad diets that prescribe exactly the opposite formula of other fad diets.

It may be easy to dismiss the fad diet believers as kooks but what if there is something else at work? These seemingly crazy diets do absolutely work for some people.

Every diet seems to start strong. We all feel the burn and the energy boost but inevitably the diet stops working. At the same time the diet loses effectiveness we feel the need to cheat. When we cheat we feel guilty and sometimes console ourselves with more cheating... eventually ending the diet all together.


Cheating is actually a return to sanity. It is nature’s way of telling you that the diet is not working and not giving you what you need. A person certainly can’t live by apple cider vinegar or chocolate alone…
